FROM THE BOY IN HIS PARENT'S KITCHEN.
With Mum’s help in 2010 the very first batch of ice cream was lovingly handmade. With a huge smile on my face I felt proud, for together we had made amazing ice cream like I remembered enjoying as a child.
The Saffron Ice Cream Company was born to produce the finest ice cream. We proudly use ingredients from local growers to create award-winning flavours and help support our community.

A little history of our special company
We've come along way from the boy in his Mums kitchen but what a journey we're on! Our company - the celebration of the local area - makes us all proud and is quite the thriving local company these days!
2009
Ice cream was trialled in Mum's kitchen!
2010
Saffron Ice Cream was officially born!... We moved to our first farm production kitchen in Henham
2012
Our first events evening

Winner! Best new company ath the Essex Life Buisness Awards

Harry joins the team as our Production Manager
2015
Masterchef star Saira Hamilton visits and choses Saffron Ice Cream for her catering business.
2015
We moved to Saffron Walden as demand for ice cream soars!
2016
Tommy joins the team as our Production Coordinator
2017
We catered our first event for RHS and continue to cater the flower show every year
2018
In our commitment to the environment, we ditched the plastic milk bottles in favour of milk in a box, saving over a tonne of plastic each year!
2019
Our first ever vegan ice cream was made - Vegan Vanilla Pod
2019
We start to supply the National Trust
2020
We gave Saffron a fresh new look and celebrated our 10th anniversary. We celebrated with a golden ticket factory tour and ice cream making day.
2022
We launched our brand new Vegan Chocolate and Sea Salt ice cream, made using hyper-sustainable potato milk. We were one of the first UK producers to change!
2022
We proudly move all our disposable packaging to be 100% recyclable and industrially compostable in our commitment to a greener future.
2023
Sarah joins the team as our wonderful sales manager as our team reaches double figures

Time to treat our fluffy friends! 2 doggy ice creams are launched with high fruit and vegetables inclusions
2024
We invest heavily in sparkly new ice ceam machines as demand outstips our churning abilities!
2025 onwards
We continue to enjoy what we do - that's why we put our heart and sole into it.
We continue to grow bigger and better. Our team is ever increasing as are our number of customers and the amount of ice cream we churn these days.
Above all else, our dedicated ice cream makers here at Saffron Ice Cream continue to produce with pride and passion, knowledge and skill!
